About PMO unCON

The stars are in the audience.

The most valuable voices in the room aren't always on stage. They're the PMO professionals who bring real challenges, hard-won experience and the willingness to work through questions together.

Our story

Why we created PMO unCON.

What if some of the most valuable expertise at a conference belongs to the people who are expected to sit and listen?

That question is where PMO unCON began. "The stars are in the audience" was the founding idea: the knowledge PMO professionals need most often sits with their peers, in the challenges they are facing and the lessons they have already learned.

Expert presentations still have a useful role. They can frame a topic and bring new perspectives. PMO unCON adds what one-way formats rarely leave time for: space to go deep, learn from peers and work toward solutions together.

The idea

What is an unconference?

In an unconference, participants are contributors, not an audience. They bring the questions, share what they know and help shape where the conversation goes.

That doesn't mean an open agenda left to chance. PMO unCON works within a thematic framework, and facilitators guide each conversation so it stays focused and useful. Speakers and experts take part too; they are simply not the only people in the room with something to teach.

  1. Real challenges first

The starting point is what PMO professionals are working through now: how to show value, set priorities and shape an operating model that fits their organization.

  2. Depth over passive consumption

Less time listening to one voice, more time examining a question from several angles, tested against other people's experience.

  3. Create with peers

Ideas are shaped together at the table, and participants leave with colleagues they can keep thinking with.

Beyond the event

The event sparks ideas. The community turns some into contributions.

PMO unCON doesn't end when the tables are cleared. The PMO Global Alliance is the platform where ideas from the event can become projects, carried forward by volunteers for the benefit of the wider PMO community. Not every session leads to a project, and it doesn't need to.

  1. Connect

Conversations at the tables surface shared challenges.

  2. Collaborate

Some ideas continue as PMO Global Alliance projects.

  3. Contribute

Volunteers turn them into value for the wider community.

Participants and volunteers

The people who make the format work. They bring the questions, share their experience at the tables and, in many cases, keep contributing after the event. Peer collaboration starts with them.
